Plot: Batman is trying to defeat the Joker and take down the bad people that are on the Joker's side.
Design: The costume designer is Lindy Hemming. She designed Joker's costume to go with his personality. His personality is laid out to be "he doesn't care about himself at all". The designers did more work on the Batsuit. They added wide elastic wings to make it bind to Bale. His costume was made out of over 200 individual pieces of rubber, fiberglass, nylon, and metallic mesh. The gauntlets are retractable razor blades which can be fired.
Effects: When Harvey's face gets burnt on the complete left side of his face, they had to construct an effect that would make it look burnt and torn up. They created 120 computer-generated shots of Two-Face's scarred visage. They rearranged the bones, muscles, and joints to make Harvey look more dramatic. He wore markers on his face and a prosthetic skullcap. It was difficult to shoot the fire on Harvey's face because very rarely does only half of something burn.
Themes: The primary theme of The Dark Knight is escalation. Escalation means to increase in magnitude. Some people argue that the overall theme is evil over good.
Lighting: The lighting is overall very good. With the flashes during the action scenes and the darkness that builds up suspense that leads to the action parts. They did a very good job of using various light sources to archieve effects while illuminating scenes.
